The Best Dinner Party Playlists

If you’re planning on throwing some sort of dinner party, it’s important to have the right kind of music playing in the background to help create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere for your guests.

A good playlist will set the tone of your gathering and enhance the food you’re eating, without being so distracting that your guests cannot hear each other speak. To help get you started, I’ve compiled my favorite dinner party playlists to throw in the background at any party.

If there are any songs that you think I should add, let me know in the comment section. Hope you enjoy it!

Cooking with your guests

A great dinner party playlist can be just as delicious as the meal you serve! I can picture Nancy Meyer listening to this playlist in the kitchen while making chocolate croissants and preparing a roasted chicken. Open a bottle of good Sancerre, invite your friends over and get cooking together. This playlist includes feel-good songs from Stevie Wonder , The Temptations and The Staple Sisters and will for sure get you and your guests dancing in the kitchen.

Perfect for an intimate and romantic dinner

It’s quiet, soft music that sets an incredibly comfortable mood. There’s a wide variety of songs on here – everything from lounge to easy and relaxing jazz standards. There are plenty of slow tracks featuring a diverse array of artists, including Jason Walker, Florence + The Machine, and Sade.

The traditional dinner party

Get ready to serve up a sweet mix of smooth soul, jazz and a bit of pop for your next soirée. This is basically five and a half uninterrupted hours of Diana Ross, Otis Redding, Al Green and Sara Bareilles. The mixture of old and new on this playlist makes it enjoyable for anyone of any age, which makes it absolutely perfect. The music is laid-back and catchy enough to not put your guests to sleep.
